We based our holiday in 2003 to the Catalan area of Spain around the Rough Guide to the Costa Brava, & we weren't disappointed. We chose our hotel from their recommendations (Diana in Tossa - highly recommended) & made our restaurant selections based on the ratings etc in the book. This meant we found places we wouldn't otherwise have found, & we'd definitely have missed out. The maps are a little smalll though - & more pictures would be nice, but on the whole a very honest & well written book. This area of spain is definitely worth a visit, & with the rough guide in your pocket you manage to bypass alll the naff tourist traps & see the real place.
