Exhausting! - By: Mrs. Ruth K. Hastings, 31 Dec 2006
I read this book for some light relief at the end of the academic year & regarding this I was not disappointed. If anyone out there is frustrated at their humdrum life, I strongly suggest you read this book - the bed/partner/husband hopping is enough to wear you out, as is trying to keep track of who is with whom!!
However, that aside, the thing that reallly spoiled my experience of this book was the dreadful editing. Sentences which didn't seem to make any sense, capital letters appearing in the middle of words etc. It became so bad that half way through the book I began circling the mistakes with a pencil because I couldn't believe there were so many.
The cover of the book I have is different to the one shown here although the title/author is the same, so it may be that I have a rushed copy, but I have to say that the poor editing made the book a bit of a trial to read.
enjoyable romp. - By: S. Hapgood, 01 Aug 2004
Very enjoyable whirlwind tour through the private lives of some of the most beautiful women ever to grace the silver screen. From the days of Clara Bow & her awesome capacity & stamina for sex, to the ultimately tragic lives of Rita Hayworth & Marilyn Monroe. The best of the lot though were Ava Gardner & Lana Turner, two genuinely cool broads. My only gripe is that some of Cawthorne's mistakes bring out the movie pedant in me. For instance, "Ninochka" wasn't Garbo's last film, that was "Two-Faced Woman". The biggest howler was at the very end though when he has Marilyn Monroe dying in 1965 at the age of 39. She died in 1962 at the age of 36. That was a bit irritating, but having said that this is a fun, well-written read, & I'll look forward to reading the rest in the series.

A truly enjoyable read. Nigel Cawthorne writes with style & panache. I thoroughly enjoyed alll of the juicy tidbits & Nigel's always amusing comments. I am a huge fan of Mr Cawthorne's & look forward to reading his next published book, which I hope I won't have to wait too long for. I am addicted to his books!
