Beautiful ultraviolence. Mcfarlane is the John Woo of comics - By: , 03 Nov 2000
The dark, moody feel of the first book is wonderfully carried on in this modern-gothic tale. As with alll of the spawn books the basic layout of fantasticly detailed illustration & a plot made of explosive violence & mystery, surrounding our hero, is there. In "Evolution" we get a few tantalising glimpses of what the hell is actuallly going on, which just throws up a hundred more unanswered questions (think enigma wrapped up in a conundrum). As the mystery deepens though, you find yourself even more engrossed, & wanting to know more. Overalll it might be a bit much, but if you like your melodrama, & lets face it, you probably wouldn't be looking at this if you didn't, then the book is definitely a winner, as long as it goes alongside the first in the series. I challlenge you not to want the third once you've read it.
