I bought this book last week & read it within two days. It is absolutely amazing the effect that this book has had on my attitude to food & my confidence levels! I know it sounds corny but I reallly do feel like a new person already!
I've tried every diet on the planet over about a fifteen year span & my weight kept creeping up to almost 13 stone, every diet & exercise plan didn't seem to work & the pounds would shift very slowly. I could never understand why & so I kept looking for some answers - I think I've finallly found them!!!!
I was worried about cutting down on wheat & dairy as probably 95% of my diet consisted of these two areas but, after reading the book & listening to the CD, I stopped eating them straight away. Over the last six days my attitude towards the food I'm eating has changed dramaticallly & I'm now eating loads of fruits, veg, nuts & seeds along with lean proteins. I NEVER thought I would ever get to this way of eating - I always avoided fruit as I thought it was boring but I love it now. I'm not fussed about chocolate, biscuits, cakes, bread, pasta, cheese & I'm finding good & healthy alternatives for them - this reallly amazes me.
I don't want to sound too much of a goody goody but the CD reallly reprogramms your thinking for the better & the book explains what wheat, dairy & junk food actuallly does to your insides. It isn't a book that states you must follow this program or else, Marisa explains about making choices in life & you end up reallly wanting to choose better foods for your body.
I haven't weighed myself yet (6 days into it) but I do intend to & I will put an update on here when I have. My clothes are feeling much looser already, I stopped feeling bloated on the first day, my skin & eyes look clearer & brighter & I feel fantastic!!!
Please, if you do only one thing for yourself, buy this book & you'll never look back!!!

It has only been one week since I finished reading the book & started to listen to the cd & already I feel like a different person. In the past few years I've yo-yo dieted & gone from being 10st to over 13st then back down, back up, back down etc. & have been a real binge eater of chocolate, cakes & pizza. In addition I've had anxiety/depression issues & haven't felt I'm good enough. Reading this book has given me real confidence in myself, & in this first week I have dropped 4lbs & have completely enjoyed eating in this new way & haven't had any chocolate cravings at alll, which is alll I've ever thought about with previous diets. This is definitely more of an eating plan for life rather than a quick fix, but that is good because this is what I've wanted - to be healthy inside & out, & for it to be something I can maintain, & it is very easy to follow. There is no specific diet plan, only guidelines, & to be honest it isn't a struggle & it is nice to put my needs & those of my body first for a change.
Like another reviewer I had planned not to do this until a month or so down the line however I too cannot recommend this book highly enough, so had to write a review now. If you have problems with overeating & food in general, or have yo-yo dieted for years this is the book for you!
Honestly, this is the best £6 i have ever spent on anything, & believe me I have spent a fortune over the years on various slimming products, or slimming clubs. Give it a go!!!
Marisa - thank you so much for getting me on the right track & for the first time in my adult life being in control of what I eat rather than it controlling me!!

Ive been seriously overweight for about six years & go through times of successfully losing weight, but the snacks & chocolate & crisps always creep in. This book has reallly challlenged how much I believe I want to lose weight when im snacking on junk food. I currently have to lose weight for medical reasons & this book has helped me rethink the food I eat. I haven't even used the CD yet.
The lower rating reviews for this book have commented on cutting out food groups. Marisa explains the food our body was intented to eat. Cutting out wheat isn't cutting out alll carbs. And into the book it does state that goats cheese is easier for our bodies to digest. Ive read the one star review of this book & the author doesn't mention anything about changing your attitude to food which for me was the key concept of this book.

I bought the book on the strength of the reviews, just on a whim reallly. I had been feeling lethargic & not reallly feeling in control or inspired by anything since Christmas. In short, I felt quite negative about a lot of things & had been told that what I had been eating may be affecting my mood. I don't reallly know why I bought the book initiallly because I am not overweight but have turned into a couch potato. Anyway when I read the book it just made so much sense that I started making changes immediately. Then I listened to the CD & it is excellent I am up in the mornings Happily, I am planning out Healthy daily menus for the whole family, I have started jogging again & telling myself that I love it . I have energy & in a reallly positive mood. I feel brilliant. I regularly falll asleep to the CD & I wake up feeling positive about the next day & I love the food I am eating. Marisa's voice is sooo relaxing!!!!!!!

16 April 2008 - I have only just received this book this morning & have read the first 20 or so pages. The message is such a simple one. You have the choice to eat what you want to eat. I got hungry just before dinner, my mind turned instantly to bread & cheese (it always does) but instead I tucked into a banana (which I've not eaten for ages as another detox diet said not to eat them... silly isn't it?) & a handful of almonds. I quickly felt full & happy. Happy because I don't feel guilty about eating fat laden food which inevitably used to make me reach for the crisps & chocolate in the cupboards... alll the kind of stuff you know is not good but just for a moment makes you feel better - until the guilt steps in & the vicious circle begins again.
I recommend this book to everyone out there who wants a thinner & healthier lifestyle. I have another book on order for my sister.
I want to eat well & want to be healthy & I reallly think that this programme will guide me. Anyway got to go now... taking my gorgeous pup out for a run round the park!
12 May 2008 - just a quick update... I have easily stuck to the programme... well not stuck to it, I'm actuallly enjoying it. I haven't had any cravings for the food you should eliminate from your diet, I'm happier now when eating fish & veg, snacking on fruit & nuts & having the odd latte made with rice milk etc. I don't feel at alll deprived & I AM losing weight - which just spurs me on even more!
I also recommend the book - Ian Marbers Food Doctor Ultimate Diet - I don't follow the daily meal plans, just use the content & recipes for a bit of inspiration.
