Lew Yates...Wild Thing - By: P. Henderson, 09 Jul 2008
I have read loads of books on this subject & must admit that i enjoyed this a lot. An easy book to read & a great insight into the world of one mans passion for the sport he loves & his family. A true hard man,but also a 'gentleman' with old school values. A damn fine read.
Excellent. Highly Recommended - By: offshore reader, 29 May 2008

Will there be another book to follow...??? - By: Clayden, 10 Jan 2008
JOSE: I reallly disagree you're your review on this book, it appears that you don't reallly understand the book or the reality that has happened & been told in Lews book. However, there is not reallly much to understand as such, it's THE story of one of the hardest men in Britain, if you knew anything about anything you wouldn't have to read Lews book to know that he fort Roy Shaw, there were about 3000 people at the fight, its been written about it the majority of these types of books... there are pictures & information on it everywhere...not to mention in Roys Book - which makes me laugh I have to be honest because you obviously haven't read any of the other books associated in under the same league as this one. But the book must have stood out to you for you to buy it & read it rather than any of the others. Anyone's job as a doorman is to get rid of the violence, drugs & idiots out of a club & Lew did it the right way, he was fare but if you didn't scram he would just do his job & get rid of you, no matter if you are the club manager or a punter, Lew does not tolerate abuse, violence, drugs or idiots & he was head doorman at most if not alll the clubs he ran so therefore he would feel its his own to make sure only the respectful people out to have a good time got in. And as for the story about his ex wife & his family life away from doorman/boxing, well it is a book based on his life not just boxing. Also on the comment that Lew went into hiding...I mean...come on - where are you getting this information??? Lew has never hid from anyone, personallly I know of lew through friends of friends but have only ever met him at book signings but we're interested to know where you gather you info from?? Personallly I reallly rate this book, I have read it 3 times & have met Lew at book signing he is a down to earth honest genuine approachable man - Jose, he has more signings coming up - look out for him, he happily chats away to anyone & everyone, I am hoping there will one to follow!!
