Desolation Jones - By: Richard Kelly, 08 Sep 2008
Deslotaion Jones is at heart a detective novel that takes place within the shadowy underbelly of Los Angeles. LA is an open prison for ex-intelligence agency personel who can operate without having to worry about the legitimate upholders of the law. Jones has been tasked with recovering some stolen memorabelia, this being some pornographic home movies containing a certain Adolf Hitler. It soon transpires that this is not reallly what is going on at alll...and Jones is dragged into a long forgotten scandel involving the USA government. We also find out that Jones is the only surviving result of the UK governments Desolation experiment.

Jones is mad, bad & dangerous to know - the results of the experiment on him have left him with a warped outlook on life, at one point he say "I am incapable of caring if any of you leave this room alive" & we believe him. Expect death, mayhem, violence, depravity, porn & a complete lack of standard morality. There will obvioulsy not be a happy ending.

I liked it!
True escapism - By: Richard Hammond, 29 Aug 2007
I resisted graphic novels for, well, 36 years until cracking & wandering off to St. Alban's Chaos Comics to pretend I was down with alll the hip kids & Goths & that. I cracked because we've alll cracked: comic books have crossed over like a medieval plague - their influence can be felt throughout Hollywood & right on down to the BBC on a Saturday Night (Jekyll anyone?) This one is great - extreme characters living extraordinary lives, escapism of the very highest order. Kind of what entertainment is for I reckon.
