A step in the right direction - By: Lee S. Morgan, 26 Apr 2008
Although i would have loved Delano to continue writing many more stories for hellblazer, i reallly dont think that there would have been any one better than ennis to take over, just as good but in a different way, with a sense of humour that fits so perfectly.
A fantastic beginning to ennis's run, entertaining, funny, clever, exciting & intrieging, & it stays that way alll through his entire involvement, a great follow up story, & a great place to start.
A perfect introduction - By: Mr. P. Rigby, 04 Oct 2007
If you want to get into the scary & desperate world of John Constantine this is the perfect introduction. Dangerous Habits is a brilliant story set around an intrinsic aspect of this iconic punk warlock. The theme is habits that kill & John Constantine has a number of them.
A working class magician with a taste in razor edged sarcasm whether it be demon or cockney thug he is up against. This is early doors Garth Ennis establishing that he had what it takes to write Hellblazer. Delano's British new wave horror is still there but Ennis has an empathy for Constantine. This isn't any superhero, this is a scouser in a foreign city getting by on his wits.
Ennis would play the cruelest of tricks with Constantine during the run that these episodes began. But that is still to come.
A perfect introduction to one of the reasons to read comics, John Constantine.
