An intelligent read. Some interesting perspectives on the life of one of the most celebrated trumpeters of the 50s & 60s. It is particularly interesting to note that Perchard recognises Morgan's limitations as an improvier & seeks to place the trumpeter in a historiallly defensible position in relation to his peers. Fans of Morgan may find it interesting to see that their obviously talented idol, as with most idols, had feet of clay. Others may find their doubts affirmed.

A highly credible & balanced effort.
