This book was great to start with, the only problem being, that after the intial appreciation of word structure. You begin to wonder why this guy seems to destroy himself time after time, I am not doubting that he has had a lot of deamons to battle, but after these battles I cant help but be slightly frustrated at the off hand way in which they are re-related to us, yes I know this is typical russell, but it is hard to read none the less. I am afraid this book took a long time for me to read & it was written very well, just with a view that was jokey & flippent & that just didnt sit well with me.
Not sure about this one.... - By: Mrs. Alizon Robson, 18 Jul 2008 I always feel with any book of this sort that I reallly want to get to know the author a little better - & maybe even like them more. This booky wooky left me cold. I was never a huge fan of Mr Brand - & reallly wanted to like him because I can see what an incredibly talented man he is. But what a waste - what a totaly self destructive chap he is - even though he knows he is. His word work was not as I expected, very limited given his mastery of it on stage - although whether he felt this was as much as his audience could cope with, I'm not sure. And then to slip in at the end of the book that he was perhaps bi-polar....I think I kind of worked that out in chapter two - but then I do work in mental health.
Sorry Russell, sort it out lad.

I've never been a massive fan of Russell Brand. In smalll doses he can be funny but sustained attempts to view his stuff have driven me slightly mental. He is however, never dull & rather intriguing, which is why I ended up reading his book.
It is well written & articulate. He writes like he speaks which I thought might be a problem but it turned out not to be. I think that not having to see his hair on every page helped a lot. He has alll the charm & egotism of a typical addict & his intelligence & the amount of thought he has put into analysing himself makes it a real page turner of a book.

Russel Brand in exceptionallly inteligent with a way with words that only strengthens his talent & alll round performing arts genius. Many of his inspirations are of an ecentric nature as is Russell. He's proven he can present, act, do stand up & now write. An interesting, over sexed & over drugged entrance this fella has had. Brilliant book, even if he's a man you think you don't like. His story is fascinating & can't be ignored as anything short of that.
Intelligent, explicit and honest - By: Mr. TB Reeks, 28 Jun 2008 To be fair, I wasn't a huge fan of Russell Brand before I read his "Booky Wook" - I just found him annoying.
However "Booky Wook" is Russell's story of where he came from & his journey to where he is today. Honest, explicit & intelligently written, "Booky Wook" shares the ups, downs & general chaos from his life so far with the closing chapter providing a teaser that more is still to come.
Very readable, I would recommend this book to Brand fans (if they haven't read it already) & to the non Brand fans who may fancy a delve into the world of Brand.
