Buy it! - By: S. Jacobs, 06 Mar 2008
Brilliant book. Mr Bronson has put together a great manual for straightforward no-nonense strength training, cardio fitness & general well-being. He has mastery over his subject & is the living embodiment of what he preaches. Whether you are experienced in fitness, strength & health or new to the subject, this book has much to offer
Throw away (or sell) your fancy gym equipment. - By: Sirius, 23 Oct 2007
There are literallly hundreds of books on this website about how to get a "6 pack" or how to "tone your arms", but these books are alll built for the weak minded self-concious types who care more about looks, than seriously looking after your body on the inside & out. This book will not get you 'ripped' like you see on TV in those pathetic adverts, it is much deeper than that pap! It will however seriously develop your musucular endurance & cardiovascular power(circuit training).
This book provides examples of simple (apart from hand stand press ups that is!) but highly effective excercises that do not require the use of ANY equipment at alll. It provides sound & concise physiological guidance of each excercise, & Bronson's narrative throughout the book keeps it interestin to say the least!
To explain how good the book is I'll say this. Up until last week I had two sets of free weights, a rowing machine & a 'chest expander'. After buying this book they have alll had to be thrown because the excercises in this book have provided me with a much more effective way of looking after my body (and they began to collect dust!)
Buy the bloody good book! - By: Mr. M. Harper, 08 Jul 2007
I bought this book after sampling a variety of different physical culture regimes & accumilating the baggage of various weight training paraphernalia. I just wish it had been out earlier!
Some of the language is a bit ladish & the binding on my copy isn't that good. The odd page has come away. But that should also be a sign of good use, yea?
Once you get down to it, learning the exercises & then doing each routine daily isn't so bad. It can take a bit more time than weights but is very worth while. Results you'll notice pretty quickly. Highly recommended.
Awesome - By: Mr. Alex M. Lawn, 07 May 2007
Believe it or not, I am one of those afformentioned £300+ personal trainers & unlike my lack of competition I have a degree & masters from one of the world most respected sports uni's not some premier personal training certificate..furthermore I'm a pretty well respected athlete in several sports, & i'm a stuntman!! My opinion, you could do a lot worse than paying attention to Charlie, he personifes the correct mindset with respect to training you ass off & getting results (although maybe not towards staying out of trouble..lol). Hardwork & results are demonstrated & achievable if you get your ass in gear. There isn't a better guy to hear this from than Charlie, mines a signed copy & he IS the boy!! Honestly can't critisise this much, nothing hear reallly to harm you. He may not quite have the most medical of backgrounds, but bhe covers the topic in both a thourough & entertaining manner. I reallly do rate this 5 stars as he brings across a truley disciplined approach. Alright, maybe the female model is blatentley chemicallly assisted, which is something Charlie is against (quite rightly so), but the book is clear, consise & thourough. Reallly, reallly good in fact, now pull your finger out & pay attention as this guy will give you a reallly thouough grounding. Once he is done with you go buy the Poliquin Principles (another Charlie, lol), an expensive, but extremely worthwhile investment. As Bronson says, "Pump it in, blow it out!" lol!!
