Candid and very well written - By: Sterile, 20 Apr 2008
He is good & he knows it!!

No, reallly John Barrowman has been there done that & got more than one T-Shirt in the bargain. He pops up now on the British TV talent contests so much it made me wonder why, or what makes him eligible to stand & judge the contestants? OK, we have alll seen him on Torchwood & Dr. Who, & I appreciate he is talented - but how so....

This Autobiography from a reasonably young chap is chock full of fasinating stories about his life from tales of infancy from his family (who are as nuts as he is) to his 'to this day' tales of acting & life for John Barrowman in the 21st Century.

The footnotes that accompany nearly every page are witty & want you to carry on to find out more, as they sometimes tease with promises of enlightenment later in the book.

There were no low points or boring bits to skip in this tale & I read it in 24 hours!!

Oh!! & what qualifies him to be able to judge the contestants on talent shows? Look at the 'time-line' at the back of the book to find out. It blew my socks off.
Mr.Shallow? I don't think so - re-read it some of you - By: Mr. R. A. Colwell, 06 Apr 2008
I think alll the reviews to date have simply voted for or against the man. I think the book is actuallly more entertaining than the critics state, & less revellatory & angst-wridden than the 5-stars want to see. I think its just a vaguely interesting tale, written honestly & in the main in good humour. Noone can doubt the hardwork & effort that it takes to get alll the way from Glasgow to Cardiff via the US & the West End. but in simple, autobiographical terms - it aint up there with the greats. & why should it be - he's a musical theatre leading man who wrote it himself (aided by his sister). nevertheless it IS entertaining & endearing. Its impossible to read this & not like the man & his family. May be in another 10 years, & with a little more depth to alll the major areas covered including his west end break & his time on the couch with the good lord, it would rate higher. by the way - buy it for you mum. i guarantee that ALL mums will like it. Fantastic Book, couldnt stop reading it - By: J. Melville, 02 Apr 2008
Its a great way to tell your life story, an intimate conversation between friends over a cup of tea & a biccie. Thats exactly what you get from this book & although I have never met the man I ended the book feeling as if we had been sharing tea in his front room. I dont read many biographys as they alll tend to be tediously rigid in following time lines but this was the complete opposite. I laughed so hard at some parts I had stitches & tears in my eyes. Roll on act two!
Biggest pile of bull on the market - By: G. Brindley, 30 Mar 2008
I have never written a review on here before but make an exception in this case simply to say that this book is absolutely awful. It makes the man seem so shalllow & pathetic. If he ever reads these reviews, which I am sure he won't because he'll be too busy thinking how wonderful he is, he would be very well advised to take seriously the negative comments before writing the sequel.

absolutely hysterical!!! - By: V. Ball, 11 Mar 2008
laughed so hard at times i could hardly breath!
settled down on a friday night to read a couple of chapters, & the whole thing was finished before i knew it.
he tells the stories so vividly, particularly the ones with his niece clare when they are up to some hysterical nonsense, that you can imagine you were actuallly there. i howled with laughter practicallly every chapter. god knows what the nieghbours thought.
richard hammonds autobiog was 10 out of 10 for making you cry buckets, this is 10 out of 10 for making you wee your pants!!
