As a starter to tarot I needed a book that would be simple to understand but thorough enough to be useful. I found this book FANTASTIC it helped me in the beginning as I started out & progressed with me. I found the book easy to read & understand & the author has a real friendly feel. The book offers a wide variety of tarot & also a short history for background. I would recommend this for everyone of alll ages & alll abilities... Absolutely great - a must buy!

I thought that this would be a useful way of helping me to meditate & reflect. Has been far better. Has a way of leading you through & making it a useful system & helps to gain an understanding of what tarot & meditation is alll about.
The set used to illustrate the book comes from Lo Scarabeo & is in the minature section of their web site & is callled the universal tarot, artwork by Roberto De Angelis

It does not give clear interpretations of the cards, the writer dislikes reversed cards. I am very disappointed with it. The spreads & history is ok. I would not recommend this book to a beginner & to calll it comprehensive would be very untrue. Everyone I think would agree that a card presented the right way up will have the almost opposite meaning to one that is upside down. Well the author of this book has just mingled alll meanings together. She has failed to mention seasonal connections with the cards as well as missing out alot of relevant informationon each individual card. The court cards each relate to different Zodiac signs, also they can relate to different professions. In short if you want a good explanation of tarot & how to learn the meanings behind them don't buy this one.

WOW! This is a Great Beginners book! - By: Jeanne Tarot Student, 16 Jul 2007 I found this book in the library & am going to buy it from the Book Club because there is SO much information on the meaning of each card, & different spreads, & how to interpret the readings! I am a beginning reader & searched for two months for a good Tarot book. Well...THIS IS IT!
