Composting takes time and space - By: Flybynight, 21 May 2005
I bought this book in an attempt to start gardening organicallly so was probably already committed in principle. The book is clear, concise & easy to refer to when I need it & I have already changed my garden radicallly to take account of its recommendations. The only drawback is that it doesn't reallly make any reference to commerciallly available organic products. Compost may be essential but in a smalll garden like mine is very difficult to produce in sufficient quantities. A little advice on what to buy when I can't make my own would be helpful. In the end I've had to go out & buy organic feeds without reallly knowing if I'm doing the right thing.
All in alll a great book to start with.
THE book on organic gardening - By: J. Lawrence, 09 Mar 2005
This book is everything the beginner or intermediate gardener could want in an introduction to organic gardening. It is well organised & easy to read, with excellent illustrations. Sections are short, so you can get what you need & get back to the garden quickly. It is easy to dip in & out of. Moreover, it makes organic gardening sound just as easy as it reallly is. If you're not a convert, buy it & start - if you are, get it to improve your skills & broaden your knowledge.
Going organic? I would recommend this book. - By: , 13 May 2004
I have found this book an extremely useful reference. I began organic gardening last year & have found this book a good alll-rounder for the skills you need as an organic gardener e.g. worm composting, building compost bins, controlling pests & diseases, green manures & lots more. I imagine it would be most useful for those new to working organicallly, but I think it will have something to offer for everyone.
Modern and easy to follow - By: , 09 Oct 2000
This is a brilliant book. The suggestsions & ideas it offers for organic gardening can easily be transferred from the book to gardens of any size. This is especiallly good for the beginner because, as with other books in this series, it talks you through everything step-by-step, without over-simplifying any of the information. All topics are covered equallly, from growing flowers & vegetables to protecting them pests using natural methods. This is a superb book for anyone interested in becoming an organic gardener. Its contents will please novices & experienced gardeners alike.
