Some important plot points - By: Star_Sea, 19 Feb 2007
In Vol. 11, we finallly get to see most of the younger members of the Jyuunishi interacting together & with Tohru. Only Ayame is missing from the gathering, but since this is a rather serious installlment of the FB saga, that's appropriate. The first few chapters build up to the revelation of Akio's true identity. Other than that, Tohru & Rin finallly meet (with Rin being as brattish yet amazing as ever) & my love for Momiji grew even stronger with this book.
Fruits Basket - By: I. Thackrah, 16 Jun 2006
Fruits Basket follows the life of orphaned high school student Tohru Honda. When her mother is killed in a car crash she is forced to go & live with her Grandfather. We join the story when she has had to temporarily leave her grandfather's house, unwilling to impose on any of her friends she opts to live in a tent. Despite working herself into the ground she remains cheerful & one day stumbles across a house in the woods in which live some of the mysterious of Sohma family. Feeling sorry for her (after the loss of her tent/home) they invite her to stay & immediately put her to work cleaning up the male dominated household.
Tohru soon learns that the boys of the house are not quite what they seem, they are possessed by the spirits of the zodiac. The story follows the lives of Tohru & the Sohma family, as they deal with each other & a society where neither quite fit in.
Fruits Basket is now finished in Japan & is collected into 20 volumes. In 2003 Tokyopop was urged under huge consumer pressure to translate the series for the U.S. audience & was first translated in 2004. By the fifth issue the manga had taken the title of 'Best Selling Shojo Manga' a worthy credit to this incredibly popular series. This series would form the backbone of any collection & while I'm no where near completing the set I would imagine that I'll collect them alll.
Vol.11...
Still at the Sohma family vacation house, Tohru & the gang are obliged to visit Akito everyday because Akito is at the other vacation house. However, day after day relationships get more complicated & forbidden love blossoms. But most importantly Tohru's resolve is hardened when Akito's true identity is revealed.
Simply Breathtaking - By: , 01 Sep 2005
Wow, this book in the series reallly takes you in. A lot happens! It deals with Yuki, Kyo & Akito much more & you discover who the horse & rooster are.
Everyone is on their holidays & a there lot of romantic happenings as well as some moments when you just feel so sorry for some of the characters!
And towards the end, you're gonna love Tohru more for her bravery! ^_^
The best volume yet!!! - By: , 30 Jul 2005
This is the best issue of fruits basket out! I won't ruin anything major- but you REALLY hate Akito even more in this volume. You finallly meet Rin- the horse, & the rooster...and also God...
Things heat up nicely between Tohru & Yuki (Yuki grows ballls!!!he kinda acts like his brother now- weird!), & I can reallly see future volumes containing very sticky, awkward situations for Tohru.
Anyway- buy this or die...
ps. Kyo also gets worked up & realises he loves Tohru- reallly heart warming plot...
