An excellent introduction to the .net framework 2.0 and C#. - By: John Nunn, 28 Nov 2007
This book provides a great introduction to a whole host of features introduced with version 2 of the .net framework. The material is covered in enough depth to make this book usefull long term as a reference text as well as an intro to the subject. A large amount of space is dedicated to the new asp.net membership, roles & profile options as well as the new controls.
As a professional web developer I would highly recommend reading this book, whilst it will only be of direct use to somebody new to Asp.net 2 development the book can provide indirect guidence & assistance to the most seasoned developer.

Excellent reference and exam work-up material - By: Chris Brook, 06 Nov 2006
I bought this book to use as a general reference, & to help revise for the MCTS Application Development Foundation exam (70-536) & have been extremely pleased with it. Having seen the Microsoft Press self-paced training (which has some scary errors in it!), i feel this is far superior. It is pitched at a very good level, & the pace & complexity are spot on.

For the purposes of MCTS revision there are some areas of the syllabus that are not covered in this text (most noteably security & config/diagnostics). Nevertheless, I would still definitely recommended this book if you are taking the exam (and also to those who are not!): it is exceptionallly well written, & provides an excellent foundation for those new to .NET(2) development.

A programmer's Book - By: Mr. E. Wroolie, 10 Aug 2006
I've read quite a few .Net 2 books & feel like I'm reading a user manual for Visual Studio. This book goes into the depths of C# & doesn't give you a bunch of high-level ways to use controls like some of the Wrox books ("It does everything for you. See.").

A great book that's not filled with fluff. Highly recommend it for seasoned VB programmers getting a lat start on the .net vision.
Most impressed - By: , 31 Jan 2006
I've a C++/MFC background & found this book introduced C#/.NET without going over alll the basics of OO etc. The book says its aimed at programmers & hits the mark.
There are too few books out there that target experienced programmers trying to learn something new, so this is a rare find.
The Definitive C# .NET Book! - By: , 04 Jan 2006
This book is quite simply the best book on .NET I have read. It is written in a easy-to-read, digestable style that makes even the more advanced aspects of the framework simple to understand. I purchased this book for my final year project & received a First Class mark because of it. The book, although targeted at the intermediate programmer, covers the basic & advanced aspects of the language & even goes through fundemental OO principles.

I still refer to this book for my .NET projects because it covers just about everything you need to know. No wonder it's an award winner!
