The dark(er) side - By: J. Chamberlain, 18 Jul 2008
Tales of the Vampires is more of a moody graphic novel than Tales of the Slayers or BTVS Season 8 & had a threatening undertone that works through the stories. Parts are quite suspensful & evoke that old fear of the bloodsuckers that alll vampire stories should. But some of it is jovial in a wicked kinda way, that i suppose is typical of Joss Whedon.
There's also some reallly nice & different graphics in this one, some alot better than the Tales of the Slayer.
I'd recommend, as a Buffy fan, & as a fan of the Tales of the Slayers graphic novel & shorts. It's a good slice of something slightly different from some holier than thou slayerness.
pretty good - By: tallis, 20 Sep 2007
as with it's companion volume, tales of the slayers, this is a mixed bag, some of the stories are a bit lacking, some of the artwork jars, each story has a strikingly different style & sometimes it seems like they're trying too hard to be different. but when it hits it reallly hits, as with the tv series' it manages to be sweet & poignant & laugh out loud funny, particularly towards the end.
so it's well worth a look, it's not perfect but it's got enough of the spark of buffy & angel to satisfy the cravings while you wait for the next installlment of season 8...
