LOUISE DOES IT AGAIN! - By: Yvonne Green, 25 May 2007
An excellent companion book to 'You Can Heal Your Life'. This book doesn't contain as many exercises & things to do as the first one, but has many more examples to help us see how our thoughts are creating our lives. She talks about forgiveness, & somehow you come to realise that forgiveness doesn't mean condoning bad behaviour, & may not have any effect on the forgiven ones, but that the very act of forgiveness can set ourselves free. I've gone through it, & it works! Why should I spend my time & energy on someone who's not worth the bother!
There are many other things in this book too, & if you're on the long road to personal development, it's a very handy guide to have with you.
A real eye-opener - By: Ms. VJ Shaw, 23 Jan 2007
This is one of those books that causes you to feel shocked & surprised as it's like the author is speaking to you & only you, like the experiences in life that she talks about are your own! I needed this book, it helped me understand why i feel the way i feel & why my life is where it is. And I have no doubt that it is going to help me a lot in my life from now on. She tells you how to get the best out of life & helps you put to rest things in your life that are causing you harm & negativity.
A great book, & I recommend it to everyone out there who wants to know more about why we are here & how to shape our lives the way we want.
The Power is Within You - By: , 30 Jan 2004
A lot of very helpful stuff, worth reading, but cautiously, extract what is helpful to you. For anyone who is a true Christian, she uses the word 'God' frequently, as do a lot of new age spiritual books & philosophies. But her god is one that is within us alll according to her, any true Christian knows this is not so. There is no mention of Jesus Christ. Her meditations are good but the one flaw for me is she advocates that, "churches remove sin & guilt from their teachings".
One other aspect I would be cautious about in reading her book, is the emphasis on forgiving our parents. That is okay as long as blame for bad parenting is recognised first, particularly anyone with unresolved anger. (I know we are taught that anger is wrong & certainly not Christian, but it is a human emotion that should not be repressed but should be directed at source.) The anger must come out at the parents, either directly or by letter, numerous letters in my case, if they are dead.
I highly recommend reading Alice Miller's books before, or alongside, this one, about the importance of placing blame where it belongs. She has a website, just type in Alice Miller on your search engine. One of her books is entitled Banished Knowledge, but her basic beliefs are outlined on the website, ie she is very much on the side of the child. I did feel uneasy about Louise Hay's emphasis on forgiving & understanding parents. That is perhaps okay when you have dealt with inner blocks or other personal problems & struggles. If you forgive parents too early in therapy you end up still blaming yourself, because we take on blame for our parents don't forget, something she does not mention in this book.
An excellent follow-up to You can heal your life! - By: , 21 Oct 2000
Having read "You can heal your life" about 50 times I found this to be an excellent follow-up book. It enforced everything I had already learnt & made me think about other issues that affect the world, whilst keeping me on that Positive path.
A good friend and a teacher - By: , 22 Aug 2000
I read "Heal your Life" several years ago, & I can't reallly put it in to words how much it did for me. I found a good balance inside my soul & it stayed for years! But I didn't nurture this balance....so I lost it! Which is what happens to alll live if we don't nurture it! So now I'm reading "The Power Is Within You" & it's different experience from reading "Heal your Life"...but that's because I've changed, I'm not still as focused as I was then, but this book is a true friend....when my soul is disturbed in any way I can always open it & it calmes me down. It gives you such a good view on how simple life reallly is....it's we, ourselfs, that make it more complicated than it has to be! And it's an honest friend that can tell you such a thing, without affending you in any way, but makes you think something like; "yes of course...it's me, & I can do something to change it & make my life easier & happier". It's reallly difficult to make a review like this on a book...because we alll have our own experiences. So reallly alll I can say is you won't loose anything by reading it....but there is a big change that you'll gain a lot! Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did...:)
