Excellent: practical, easy to follow and not overcomplicated - By: Mingrelian Venturer, 08 May 2008
OK, so the title is probably a bit too much hype. $30,000 a month is not likely to be hitting most people's bank account any time soon after reading the book. Having said that, as a clear & easy to follow guide to making money consistently from SNGs, I'd say it has few rivals, if any. The key is that it doesn't overburden you with stuff to memorise (difficult enough when playing one table, worse when multi-tabling, which is what the book's about). If you play a lot of SNGs & want to play them more profitably, even if you don't want to take your playing to the levels the book suggests, I'd recommend this book.
Well worth the money - By: B. Scarr, 31 Jan 2008
First off, this book is slim. Unlike other poker books, you don't have to scan through 100's of pages to absorb 10 pages worth of strategy. Also, unlike other books, you can apply the lessons immediately. The big advantage (for me anyway, becuase I am lazy) is that winning techniques are based on mathematical advantage at each step, without having to understand the mathematics. Also, the book has alllowed me to optimise my sniffer software that I bought ages ago, but haven't reallly used to any potential. So has it worked? I have applied alll of the recommended strategies for step 1, & I am currently showing 25% ROI & 50% ITM (In the money). The book recommends Party Poker, but I am playing Full Tilt as there are more US players who will go alll-in with cheese. The down side (to the strategy, not the book) is that you spend a lot more of your time folding - for example, step 1 recommends folding AKos, AQs etc., hands I would normallly raise with! But it does work. The boredom of folding is somewhat reduced if you adopt the multi-tabling stratgey - I am currently playing four tables at once. All in alll, highly recommended - for the first time I am actuallly taking money out rather than reloading every month.
Very solid book - recommended - By: Mr. J. R. Hayes, 31 Jan 2008
I have to disagree with the 'dont be fooled' review - this is a very solid book full of good advice, specific mechanical & theoretical arguments & advice.
It will not show you how to make £30,000 a month.
It will give you a very well thought out foundation for consistently beating SnG's - & that's well worth a few quid.
So if we are rating the accuracy of the title - fair enough, you do have to add a lot of skill & experience beyond what you get in the book.
If we are rating the contents of the book - buy it!
Don't be fooled - By: Ex poker player, 15 Jan 2008
It is NOT possible to earn $30,000 a month playing online poker. Don't buy this book - alll you will be doing is lining the author's pockets & throwing away your own money. Think about it - if it reallly was possible to earn that sort of money, the author would be doing it, not writing about it!
