CoM: from Gameboy to manga... - By: J. B. Luckhurst, 16 Jan 2008
Kingdom Hearts CoM was the GBA game that fills the storyline between the events of the two PS2 games (KH1-2).
If you never had access to a copy, or never bought it, but loved the games/ previous manga series (for KH1), you probably would enjoy this more than most people as it does explain a lot- especiallly about Namine, Riku, Axel (yah!) & the Organization XIII members who never appeared in Kingdom Hearts 2.
The only drawback i found about the series was that it became a little >too< comical in the second of the two volumes. Although I'm alll for a bit of comedy in manga (and some parts in the the series are REALLY funny), the second novel seemed to be more focused on the humour rather than using it as a tool to break the story up. This leads you to a different impression to how some of the more morbid characters should have been portrayed; & leaves you a little frustrated by the final 20 pages when what you reallly want some serious action rather than constant jokes.
All in alll, its still a great series, & still definitely worth buying whether or not you played the GBA game, especiallly if you want more of an explanation to alll the events leading up to KH2.
-Good artwork (same style as the previous series)
-Very funny bonus strips
-Good humour overalll (if not a little over-excessive by the end of the second volume)
-Keeps pretty much on by the games storyline (shortened for obvious reasons lol)
+ If you're deciding whether to buy this or the game..... it depends on how much patience you have as it is a LONG game (about the same length as the first KH if you include Riku's storyline) & it does get harder if you don't get the hang of the controls- but it does have some very cool movies (proper fmv's & alll) & shows the story as it is.
