superheroes with ego's - By: G. Puxley, 02 Jan 2008
I love alll heroe based fantasy-sci-fi. I would like to say this book was alll about action but it was more like a meeting at westminster but slightly more back biting. You can see a lot of the ultimates internal politics/conflicts andcharacter develop & after reading both dc comics marvel comics offerings of fiction novels though & graphic novels i became attracted to another superheroe team book. I like both the avengers & JLA & can see many similarities in team structure & conflicts of interest. After tomorrow's men, the novel b4 this one i was looking forward to another action packed book & hopefully not focusing so heavily on iron man this time around. While there is plenty of action but mainly at the end of this book it gets drowned out by difference of views & conflicts of interest. You start to see how reallly different iron man/captain america are & while a team they will never reallly work as a real team should, & this is pretty much true with the whole team. It reallly gives you a good idea why civil war was to happen, & how anybody can spend time with tony stark ie iron man without slapping his arrogance out of him i dont know. the story is pretty well described above but i feel far to much time was focused within the ultimates rather than the enemies they face but it was entertaining nevertheless. If you like the comics or heroic fantasy its worth raeding, but to my mind tomorrow's men was a much superior novel & this was no where near as good as some of the novels offered by marvel at the moment!
