A useful book for the 'hard-pressed' researcher. - By: , 26 Mar 2001
This book is good for students as an introduction to alll aspects of action research methodology or as a refresher for people returning to study on Degree, Masters & Doctorate courses. It is easy to read & for those students stretched for time, gives a good overview of action research.

The book is divided into two parts, the first covers the basics of action research & focuses the reader on the terms used, the action research cycle, the role of the 'insider' action researcher & the complexities of undertaking action research within your own organisation.

The second part looks at the implementation of the action research project. This deals with issues that may arise & the importance of managing internal politics. This section gives an outline of the implementation process & covers the ethics & politics of action research. It also looks at the strengths & weaknesses of such research.

At the end of many chapters there are useful exercises, which summarises through helpful questions, what needs to be addressed before & during each stage of the action research project, including writing-up the research.

Conclusion - A useful book for the 'hard-pressed' researcher.
