Not my cup of tea, but not a bad book. - By: , 06 Nov 2003
I found this book bitty & the lay-out messy. If you like mind-maps etc. this is probably the book for you, they're not my cup of tea.
The book covers the basics of First Aid, & some general ailments such as blisters & cramp. I do not completely agree with some of the treatments, but they will do no harm. For example: as a sufferer of a severe migraine that runs in the family, & with plenty of friends with the same ailment (varying degrees), I do not believe that paracetamol will do a thing to help the sufferer - but it won't hurt. It also does not explicitly suggest providing a bowl next to the bed, a useful tip that can save the sufferer additional distress. Other gripes are along these very minor lines. The different ailments alll have clearly marked boxes with the aims & needs, & any warnings or important comments. This makes treating an emergency straight from the book in a stressful situation much easier, as alll you need is clearly marked & visible. For this reason I would recommend including this book in the First Aid kit. Even if *you* are trained, the person using the kit may not be. And at an A5 size, it may even fit.
All in alll it does the job but I much prefer a more technical book, one with columns rather than pictures with lines to corresponding floating text. "Your mileage may vary".:-)
Superb for beginners!! - By: Neil Mclennan, 10 Jun 2001
I have just taken a First Aid course, & we used his book during the course. The guys that trained us were Fireman, & used this as a guide, it was so good, I have bought a copy!! All I need now is for someone to collaps so I can practice my new found knowledge!!
