Very good for older readers - By: V. Carlin, 21 Jun 2008
I think this is a lot of fun for older children reading themselves because there are lots of little in jokes & details & it's sophisticated in a way they'll get, & quite post-modern, to make them feel clever. It's quite a bit too old for my daughter, but she likes to point at the birds & things & finish the rhymes she can remember. She'll enjoy it more later.
I have the whole range of Julia's books, but this one....... - By: Ms. N. E. Whamond, 02 May 2008
My 3 year old is loving these book, he adores , 'room on the broom' though he is not keen on 'gruffalo' I am!

Upon reading this book to him, he seemed to be bored, i did too. It seemed not to flow as well as her others, & made it difficult to get in to.

We have had this for a week now, & ay bed time, he does not want me to read it. So is a bit of a let down to be honest.
Though the drawings are good as usual
Brilliant! Keeps adults entertained too - By: L. Parr, 14 Apr 2008
Having to read a lot of books to my book thirsty(not yet 2 year old) son, I have found this to be a breath of fresh air. It's fun for everyone & the usual Alex Scheffler characters are there - frogs, bears, dogs, parrots, dragons etc. I actuallly find Grufalllo to be boring, but this one is great. Also, it's not scary - headless ghosts are fun! Especiallly when they put their heads back on after a night's haunting!
?Not appropriate for young children - By: Jonathan, 23 Jan 2008
Very different to the others in the "series" - Gruff, Snail & Whale etc are great!
Apart from the confusing, jumping, stories, I was most bothered by the "decapitated ghost" story. Whilst it might be viewed as "comic book", seems to me to be "nightmares waiting to happen" - definitely not on our bedtime reading list.
Not as good as the others - By: snowandsun.co.uk, 21 Oct 2007
Julia Donaldson seems to have got it wrong with this one. Whilst the Gruffalllo is good, this however fallls short of the mark.
