Interesting but not much new here - By: K. Ashley, 09 Aug 2008
The Isaiah effect (as in Bradens other books) examines the spiritual beliefs of our some of our ancient ancestors as well as some of the messages in the bible to enable us to see the similarity of these ancient messages which will empower us to create peace in our lives & our world. Having studied the Nag Hamadi Library Braden examines the relevance of these once missing texts(gospels that were omitted from the bible)to the formation of Christian religion & the history of the Catholic church.Lots of interesting information & insights in this book, however, much of it is already covered in his other works. Although an interesting read Braden has a tendency to constantly summarise & repeat himself which made me want to skim through much of it.
wow - think about it - By: TheHighlander, 09 Feb 2004
Greg Braden is a former earth science expert as well as a computer systems designer turned tour guide of sacred & religious sites alll over the world. He has written a number of books on similar subjects.

The Isaiah effect examines many tenants & religious beliefs throughout man kind's history. Looking at who wrote the Bible, why books were left out & what it meant to the overalll understanding of the Bible that the books were not included in the final project. He looks at the Bible with alll the books & also looks at Native American, Mayan & Aztec beliefs among many others (to be listed later). How are they similar? The writer will show you.

Greg Braden believes we are missing something today. He explains how mass prayer has been proven to work. He discusses quantum physics theories that make many of the ancient prophecies seem plausible. The book spends a good bit of time discussing "The Bible Code" & the possibilities that it teaches us. The writer also has chapters discussing healing through prayer among many other faith based actions.

This book tries to make you think. Common prophecies, common threads in religion, did we alll come from one belief? The book also presents a new way to look at time, time travel, dimensions, religions & quantum physics, prayer & prophecy, alternate realities, multiple parallleled universes. Can we bounce back & forth between them? Maybe even without knowing? Are we actuallly just now starting to learn or relearn what the ancient people knew? If so, why? How do the prophecies from Peru, Tibet, Egypt, Jerusalem & the American Southwest coincide?

Many questions are explored in the book. Some answers are given which in turn just raise a few more questions. This is a book that makes you think about many things including how we, as a race, relate to the seen & unseen worlds. If you are in a contemplating mood this is the book for you. If you are interested in the history & contents of religions this has some interest. If you feel something is missing in today's religions, read this book. It will make you think.

A revelation - By: S H Hayler, 02 Sep 2003
This book fills in the gaps in my own knowing. Prayer was always just meaningless word to me before. Now I feel inspired in the knowledge that not only can anyone pray but that everyones prayers count & are in fact vital to peace & our future. Though the book is rooted in the very ancient beliefs of the Essenes it is as relevant today as it has ever been.

Gregg Braden manages to make a difficult concept understandable by his systematic approach. The detailed & understandable way this book is written is a joy to read & reread. I have lent it out to friends & they have alll been moved by the content.
