Amazing Book !!! - By: Mrs. Rachel Bogen, 14 Jun 2005
I had to enter a review for this book, I think it is the most excellent book I've ever read, turned me into an eternal Leonard Cohen fan. Every line is absolutely beautiful & profound, I think if I were to read it 100 times over (which I intend to do!)I would still find lines words & lines that perhaps didn't impact the first time round. It is the most poetic & inspiring book, as are his other books & his music - I think they should have a talking book with Leonard reading it because his voice is sooooooo sexy. Buy this book; it's excellent
A lyrical journey through early life, a song of a book. - By: , 13 Feb 2002
This is a masterpiece & one that will strike chords with anyone who has experienced the angst, confusion, despair & ecstatic happiness that accompanies the tortuous journey to adulthood.
This is a semi-autobiographical novel charting the early years of Breavman, an aspiring writer & philosopher through his relationships with his family, best friend & lovers. Cohen's early poetic style is evident throughout. Emotion & humour are meted out in equal measure moving the reader from pain to laughter with remarkable regularity.
As a novel this is, without doubt, the finest rites of passage story I have read. As a book of prose poetry it is incredible. The quality is consistent throughout, & the ending will tear you apart. Enjoy.
