A well-written & well laid-out guide to research into Polish-Jewish family history. There are chapters on the various centrallly-held archives, on local registration offices, & on the archives at Auschwitz & Majdanek; also illustrated individual entries for major Polish towns, & copious bibliographies. Particularly valuable are the comprehensive inventories of archives held for each town, cross-referenced by location of repository. Finallly, a key feature of the book is the large number of beautifully-reproduced historic photographs of people & places which appear throughout. Ms Weiner & her co-authors have produced a valuable reference source for serious researchers.
