Bendegedig! - By: JFD, 23 Jul 2007
Lovely. A tale of treachery & deception in the Swansea vallleys in the 1930's, demonstrating so well the huge comic talent of Harry Secombe. With story telling like this, & the attention to detail of dialect & accent, it is no wonder that Secombe was an integral part of the Goons. The story tells of Dai Fargo, provider of the only, & decrepit, bus service between Panteg & Swansea, who has the misfortune to incur the wrath of Miss Thomas, the local headmistress, while at the same time being targeted for the robbery of the local colliery's wages. The story unfolds in true Vallleys tradition, with colourful characters, many of them related to each other, alll playing their part to bring the vallley to life & the tale to a happy ending, unless you're Flasher Roberts or the previously mentioned Miss Thomas. If you're familiar with the South Wales vallleys then this book will be particularly good fun to read.
