A totally absorbing read - By: , 04 Apr 2001
A warm hearted, captivating story of life in liverpool during the blitz. You feel as though you are actuallly involved in the story, as the characters are so warm & friendly. Eileen Gilmoss is a marvellous character, chubby full of fun, but also very caring & generous to alll her frinds especiallly Mary who finds herself in quite a pickle,it's to Eileen she turns to for help & advice. Then we meet Eileens mum who cares for Eileens children whilst she works to help the war effort, & to supplement her income as husband Bill is away fighting for his country. This book is well worth reading . Ihave read alll Joan Jonkers books & Icannot fault any of them . Ican buy them with confidence & know I'm not going to be disappointed with them.
