THE BOOK THAT STARTED MODERN MARTIAL ARTS!!! - By: MARKS, 08 Oct 2007
Its very hard to not give good reviews on a Bruce Lee book. Finding someone who dosent admire his work is nearly impossible. So in saying that this book is one of the best ever produced on martial arts might be hard to beleive for some.BUT IT IS!! it gives a clear description of each phase of combat (close quarter, punching, kicking, grappling etc) & also gives description & quality content on each. Be aware that this book is aimed for street self defence & not for competition type fighting, so expect to find "dirty" fighting techniques included. With great writing & excellent hand drawn pictures demonstrating techniques this book is a serious must for EVERY martial artist.!!

Top Notch! One of history's most admired Martial Artist of our time gives us a look into the master's mind. This is a must have for anyone studying the arts, detail explaintions & drawing from Mr.Lee himself. The book shows the reader alll ascept of the fighting arts with differrent take on defensive & counter moves from strikes & attackes. Nice overalll view on the Jeet Kune Do movement & Mr. Lee's take on trying to provide the most effeicent way of defending yourself regardless of your attackers abilities.Truly recommend to martial artist & those wanting to take part in them. Also highly recommend a book to improve your flexibility & conditioning by another martial artist"The Backsmart Fitness Plan" great leg stretches have improved my kicking. Cheers
Thoughts of a legend - By: , 03 Aug 2005
This book is truly incredible. If you're a martial artist there is something to be gained from this book. It contains a wealth of inspiring quotations from the man himself.
The book is presented in the form of short quotations & jottings taken from Bruce Lee's writings. The main chapters are Philosophy, Preliminaries, Qualities, Tools, Preparations, Mobility, Attack, Circle with no circumference & It's just a name. Each chapter is neatly arranged in an easy to read fashion. There is a variety of sketches by Bruce included in some of the text that makes for interesting analysis.
If you want to understand the essence of Jeet Kune Do you should read this. No one can explain it better than Bruce Lee himself.
The words of Linda Lee (Bruce's wife) capture the nature of this book. 'He did not intend it to be a "how-to" book or a "learn kung-fu in 10 easy lessons" book. He intended it as a record of one man's way of thinking & as a guide, not a set of instructions.

The Best book I have ever studied. The only thing bad about this book is that it was supposed to be 7 volumes, but with Bruce Lee's death, it remained just this book.It is a shame that today there is no one like Bruce & no one does movies realistic as he did.Today is only special effects.Bruce was the one who introduced Kung Fu to the ocident world, and freedom to the martial artists. The reason there is still so much talking about bruce is because he was the best,if he had not existed there would not exist so many martial artists & "dojos" today, & we alll miss him.
