Kama Sutra -the Song of Solomon,Choices and Chances - By: Highlander, 27 Sep 2007
The Kama Sutra is primarily a mechanics manual for human relationships.Press the right button at the right time & the right place & the "car starts."
Having been to India & lived there I have observed how the general culture subjugates women & how alll power is reserved for the men & if you read this book inspired by Indian culture you will see how often it is the man who initates the kind of advances made to women in this book & there seems hardly any room for the woman's part in alll this ( see page 255 for example)and maybe this reflects the high number of female babies in the poorer areas who are disposed of since they are regarded in these kind of quarters as being a drain on the family's resources or alternatively elsewhere as a possible source of wealth by arranging marriages for them often without their consent to the one who will provide the largest dowry for her hand. This & the above attitude is mirrored & is expressed in the so-callled honour killings of young Indian women in Britain which can be read about in the annals of British crime statistics. Any loving couple could find & keep the excitement in their marriage by simply mutuallly aggreeing to try something which with integrity would keep their marriage vows intact & be perfectly satisfactory to both.Marriage of course is a compact before God & the generic man by which faith, and trust, hope & love, honour & obedience which characterised human beings before the Kama Sutra was ever written. And of course as an alternative strategy if one requires a strategy the Song of Solomon is an excellent read for a husband & wife together. As technique alone the Kama Sutra is possibly unsurpassed but does it take the place of real love, real faithfulness ,real commitment,no of course it does not.A rabbit has many burrows but we are not rabbits.
Golden Eagles (and though we are not Golden Eagles) in my beloved Scotland risk death by fallling a thousand feet with their talons locked in each other's until when near the ground they seperate.Golden Eagles are lifetime partners unless one of them dies.Eagles are wise birds. A reading of the Kama Sutra & a reading of the Song of Solomon I would suggest might to the discerning reader make alll the difference in the world.Of course if alll you are after is instruction & some doubtful at best female psychology then read away & make your choice. You take your choice, you take your chances.
Life saver, A must read for all couples and singletons alike - By: Mr. L. Corstorphine, 23 Jul 2003
I bought this book as a way of expanding my life with my partner. I had no idea how useful it would be.
When I first got it I was dissapointed (no pictures)how wrong I was. since reading this book I have find out ways of calming myself, tackling problems in life, getting on well with other people & you wouldn't belive the tricks I have learn't for the bedroom :-D
This is not a book on sex, it is a manual on life. it is a guide by which you can learn to approach alll aspects of humanity in a way which helps to improve on situations & get what you want out of life.
As far as my partner is concerned I wish I had bought this book sooner. I now know a hundred subtle ways of making feel appreciated & satisfied, from a breath on her neck to things that can't be mentioned on a web site that doesn't charge ;-D. I feel that this book is a must for any person who is serious about making themselves & their closest loved ones as happy as possible.
Go beyond the coffee table versions - By: Chris A, 09 Nov 2002
This book is a modern translation of the original text, & is a highly academic treatment. Unfortunately it is rather confusingly laid out, there are three strands of text running concurrently the literal translation, period commentary & authors commentary. Despite this it is readable though bordering on the tome in dimensions you can zip through the translation which is actuallly not very long.
On a more practical level I have found some of the advice to be very good - but you have to read this in context. If you are unfamiliar with the original text then you should be aware that this is not a 'positions' book, the majority of the Kama Sutra is devoted to relationships between men & women, courting, marrige etc. It is a facinating insight into an ancient civilisation, & underlying it is a fundamental understanding of what makes people tick.
This is an obvious choice for the those who wish to read the whole book, because the earlier Burton translation was edited by Victorian sensibilties. However if you just want to get a sense of this work you might consider the earlier version on grounds of cost.
Whichever version you get you will find this a facinating read, especiallly if you like the perfumed garden, now alll I need is a translation of the chinese taos...
Sensual, intimate and incredible! Making love is an art! - By: , 11 Jun 1999
This book is overlooked by so many who desire to make love to their partners as though they were the only person in the world. The positions offered are incredible & although it may be uncomfortable to try some of them the ecstasy is well worth any discomfort or embarrassment. Try them! You will never experience total release from the world like lying in your lover's arm in one of these incredible positions!
