Best book for any lighting technician - By: M. EJ Walsh, 15 Jun 2007
This book is fantastic. We have a copy in our local library & its almost always out! I have read it as a novice, & finished it as an advanced expert! Anything you need to know, from basics, such as what lights do, & examples, right down to the nitty gritty, such as how to set a light based on globe angles.

Fantastic Book! Deserves 5+ Stars...
Francis Reids new update of his stage lighting 'Bible' - By: paulears@netcomuk.co.uk, 16 Jul 2001
There is a danger when books become so popular that edition after edition follows without actuallly improving the product. Francis Reid repeatedly avoids this error by ensuring that while being brought up to date, the vital facts are not altered. The Stage Lighting Handbook (6th edition) is a piece of essential reading for both newcomers to the subject & seasoned professionals who just have to have the latest Reid offering on the bookshelf for completeness.

In this update, the latest items of equipment are discussed & the topic of automated lighting is given a thorough airing. Reid has resisted the temptation to remove some more 'elderly' parts of the book & has left them in as they are still as relevant today as they were in 1976 when the first edition was published. I tried very hard to find something that I did not like, or even agree with, but in the end simply sat & read the whole thing from cover to cover & I am not ashamed to say I still keep learning from this well presented & very readable book.

If you have an interest in stage lighting - this is an compulsory purchase.

I read this book to help learn basic lighting design. This book teaches you alll you need to know & more. Even though the book has a U.K. slant(only U.K. rigging is disscued) It is very informative
