We recently made our first trip to Mauritius, armed with a number of travel guides. Lonely Planet's guide was consistently helpful: we knew what to expect, & were provided with a series of tips to get the most from every place we visited.

We had also used it to decide which hotel to stay in before making the trip, & again, it helped us make the right decision according to our budget.

There aren't many photos in the book, which is my only criticism, & is the only reason we felt it necessary to buy other guides - a picture speaks a thousand words, after alll. Nevertheless, after a couple of days in resort, this was the only book we used, & I heartily recommend it to anyone even considering a trip to Mauritius.
