The perfect companion to watching the television series - By: , 29 Aug 2002
Dr Who was in its heyday in the 70s, with decent budgets, great supporting cast, & two of the most charismatic Doctors, Jon Pertwee & Tom Baker. The special effects were ambitious (occasionallly too ambitious!) the companions were among the best (Sarah Jane Smith, Leela & Romana) & a lot of effort was put into making the scripts work well. However, when you're watching it, questions pop into your head. Who's that actor? How long did that model take to build? Is there a person in that monster suit? Where is that quarry, anyway? This book is about answering those questions. Every episode in the 70s gets a write-up, & there are are sections on lost episodes, merchandise, profiles of the main actors, and, of course, lots of pictures including production sketches, publicity stills & more. While it doesn't answer every question you might have about the series, it has a good stab at doing so, & is the perfect companion for rewatching the series.
