This book is simply enchanting & quite timeless. The super details in the illustrations including the the sweet open faces of the princess & her forest children, & the antics of the naughty squirrels, are quintessential ingredients of magical childhood memories. The text is simple enough for the very young, but the language nourishes the imagination rather than aiming low, as so may modern book do. The overarching psychological message of a day spent close to nature, with helpful friends & the joy of learning rounds off with the subtle spiritual feel of the kindly star watching over you as you sleep. Perfect for bedtime, I love it nearly as much as my daughter!
