Fascinating and extremely readable - By: Mr Asim Sibtain, 02 Oct 2004
I have been reading texts on Islam & the Prophet for most of my life, but this is the book which I have always remembered & gained most satisfaction from. It is rich in detail, but the author's excellent style & narrative makes this hefty book hard to put down. Perhaps it is his BBC journalism rigour, but my point is that most Islamic books, unfortunately do not pay enough attention to the reader & make the reading experience quite challlenging. The knowledge is there, but the method is not so easy. This book is a rare exception, as it manages to combine academic rigour, with an almost novel-like style. Pleased to recommend this.
A reflection on the life of the best Man who ever lived. - By: , 09 May 2004
This book is informative, concise & so powerful. It brings to life so many tragedies & conquests within the Islamic history.

Islamic life, triumph & losses that people had within the hardest times during the building of Islam. This book favours anyone Muslim & Non-Muslim alike to find out more about a powerful era & powerful religion. It is truly passionate & shows the love from the Muslims to the Prophet (pbuh) & also the hatred from the Non-Muslims who then eventalllt realised their error & mended their ways, by accepting Islam.

Fantastic Read!

Muhammad - By: Adel Mozammel, 24 Aug 2003
Highly informative & precise, it answers a lot of orientalist criticism's about the Prophet without mentioning them, hence a critic receives an answer to his opinions & the general reader finds it more informative than a lot of other seerahs.
extremely informative and fluent reading - By: , 02 Nov 2001
I have been reading books on the Prophet (PBUH) since childhood but this is the only one which transported me back in time & gave me an in-depth understanding of the social norms of the era & hence answering a lot of why's & how's. I loved it so much that I gave it to my sister to read thinking I will get another one for myself & have been searching franticallly ever since. Now I am praying that Amazon will find one for me. This time I buy more than one, so in case I feel generous again I still have an invaluable piece for my own collection.
The Most readable account of the Prophet to date - By: , 10 May 2001
I have read many of the published biographies of the Prophet Muhammad (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him)but none comes close to this in conveying the passion so essential to his life & work. A tremendose achievement.
