An Amazing Autobiography By An Amazing Man!` - By: Mr. Russell Boulton, 08 Jun 2008
Being a fan of Marilyn Manson for many years now I had been very interested to read the autobiography in an attempt to actuallly, truly understand the man & how he came to be what he is. When I finallly had the money (I don't have much money) I bought the book & was very excited to finallly read it (so excited that I read it in a day). Upon reading the book, wow, fascinating stuff here, everything you could possibly want to know about his origins are in this book & even passages on the band's journey into the mainstream & the work before the "Sweet Dreams" cover in 1996 including the controversy of "My Monkey" & the problems & successes that came with working with Trent Reznor. Chapters on his childhood, his growing up, his good experiences, his bad experiences, losing his virginity, his times with drugs, his many relationships, the forming of the band, the search for the band members, his work before the band including the story he wrote when he was 19; "All In The Family". It's alll in here, even a very amusing chapter entitled "The Rules".
After reading this book I can honestly say I have a very good understanding of the man & a new found respect for him. He truly is a very intelligent man with an amazing life story to tell. And alll of this by the time he was 29!!!
I urge alll people to read this book! If you enjoy his music then this is an essential read to fully understand the man & if you don't like his music this is an important read so that you at least don't just judge the man based on his appearance!
Go! Read! Enjoy! Respect!
A fantastic read. - By: L. L. Beddall, 25 May 2008
I am an avid reader of rock/metal autobiography & I have to say, although I am not a fan of Manson's music, this is by far one of the best I have read. It is crammed full of disturbing, entertaining & thoughtful insights into this man's life & a definite must have for any fan of the rock/metal genre.
Turn around - By: T. Locke, 03 Jan 2008
I was into Manson's music & on the scene. Whern i read this book i lost a lot of respect for him & his music. For me it was a turn around.
I went from personallly identifying with him, to thinking he was a coward, & very weak.
It was a good book, well written, & revealing.
Phenomenal! - By: Jo Lumley, 30 Mar 2007
I am a huge fan of Marilyn Manson & have vast amounts of CDs, books & DVDs (Most purchased from Amazon) & this book does top the list. A real insight to Marilyn's sense of humour, life & his attitude to living it. From this book I have expanded my interests & it's alll thanks to him & his band. His words just roll with ease & his intellect is apparent from reading this. He is a very smart man & his story pulls you in. He is blunt, down-to-earth & most importantly, brutallly honest about himself.
Anyone to read his book will be enlightened, I'm sure of it! It's an amazing read.
