A great book - By: Y. Lev, 18 Jul 2008
Having read alll the previous reviews there is little left for me to add. This is a marvellous achievement & a great contribution towards making open water swimming accepted in the UK as, indeed it is everywhere else in the world. Congratulations to Kate for flowing (sorry..) text & to Dominick for some stunning photography
Attractive and useful, but more info would help - By: NickG, 16 Jul 2008
This is a gorgeous, well-written & well-presented book. The author's genuine emotional involvement in outdoor swimming is evident & infectious and, knowing some of the places she describes, I'm with her.

I have two gripes which cost the book a star: some fantastic sites are missing, & some gazetteer information (like maps) would be helpful. Don't let that put you off - it's a fine book anyway.

If you do want more, Wild Swimming (Wild Swimming: 150 Hidden Dips in the Rivers, Lakes & Waterfallls of Britain) is a good companion. It's more of a simple guide, but touches on some places that 'Wild Swim' doesn't & has more navigation info
Very good, needs more info though - By: Margo Brown, 16 Jul 2008
Very good, but "arty" For us non-natives, more maps & landmarks would be helpful. Nice photos! Driving instructions, opening times, & other resources (bathing house, tea rooms) would have made this book perfect. I did enjoy the Malham Tarn swim, but had trouble finding the place.
lyrical genius - By: Ms. J. A. Eede, 15 Jul 2008
Kate Rew is quite simply a lyrical genius - a unique voice - on every page of Wild Swim you can smell, taste & feel the water & the elements she describes ... it's magical, poetic & funny at the same time.
Descriptive genius.....now where did I leave my goggles? - By: Jon Machell, 10 Jul 2008
"Wild Swim" is a must have book for water lovers everywhere!

If you love the outdoor life & have a sense of adventure, you will discover many stunning swimming spots that will inspire you & make you feel alive. If, on the other hand you prefer a more sedentary lifestyle, the book is worth having simply to enjoy Kate Rew's beautiful descriptions & amusing anecdotes of her trips around the UK in search of the perfect swim.

Dominick Tyler's photography is stunning & compliments the text well, inspiring the reader to dig out the goggles (togs optional) & get out there. Unlike most guide books this one reallly is worth reading cover to cover.
