Great (Especially for GCSE's) - By: Alex Lee, 04 Feb 2008
Well there comes a time where spanish tests linger in the air like a wave of grief but then there shines a hope... PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT guide. Currently i'm taking my GCSE's & within a few lessons we were bombarded with such complex knowledge that we were simply meant to grasp & take in immediately... However, as many may have found (especiallly in languages), that perhaps the teacher does not explain as well as it could. The answer to the problem? This book right here explains every tense from the present subjunctive to the perfect past in detail with exercises that are built to test understanding. The book itself is split into different section referring to the different tenses (e.g Unit one- preterite tense). The book also gives clear explanations of the different conjugations of regular (and irregular) verbs making the different tenses so much easier to decipher.

To add to the excellence, a must have glossary to get an A* is given at the back of the book with very helpful terms, verbs etc & also in the front aresomevery useful explanations that might just help bump up your grade & fill the holes that the teacher left out.

A truly outstanding guide that was worth every single penny.
Excellent Book - I finally understand! - By: Katie, 13 Sep 2007
This book & the rest in its series have been the answer to alll of my problems! It is full of very clear explanations & plenty of exercises on each topic so you fully understand the tense you are studying before you move on to another one.
Very useful book with lots of exercises - By: Sonia101, 20 Jun 2007
I think this is an excellent book, with lots of exercises to get your teeth into. It is well laid out & each section progresses in clear, logical steps. Along with the "USO De La Gramatica Espanola" series (which I would also highly recommend to those who like a challlenge), I would say this is one of the best Spanish textbooks I own - & having studied the language for over five years I've collected loads of them!
Detailed, user friendly and highly effective - By: M. McManus, 06 May 2007
As an advanced learner of Spanish I feel well placed to be able to comment on the usefulness & effectiveness of this book. This book has many strengths that I found to be especiallly useful in the course of my studies. Firstly, the verb tenses are explained clearly, as opposed to some books which use technical language & then quickly move on assuming the learner "got it" (e.g. "attach the gerund to the suffix of the infinitive"). This book by contrast goes into detail, in plain English, to make sure the learner is clear on the tense. Additionallly, each chapter isolates exceptions & irregulars to these rules, to prevent them from confusing the learner, & thus quarantining them where they can be learned fully before moving on.

Finallly, there are good exercises, especiallly translation exercises where the reader has to translate blocks of text c.250 words. In short, this book is a must & it will be appropriate for alll levels, from people who want to pass a GCSE to people who want a career as a Spanish teacher. The book also is nicely organised, with each tense neatly separated & organised into separate chapters, as opposed to some books which attempt to teach too much at once. I would strongly recommend this book, & its price is extraordinarily low & fair considering the vast pay off in terms of skills it gives you. In short, a must have!

Excellent! - By: , 13 Jan 2006
This is a workbook with which you can master the spanish verbs which are the 'skeleton' of the language. I worked through it having never done any spanish. It is clear & concise & also quite entertaining. So much better to do on the train than a crossword or sudoku! The language is broken down & carefully explained. I also recommend her book of pronouns & preposistions (the red one). I think they'd work well used together actuallly.
