A thrilling romance - By: A Reader, 11 Dec 2006
Blue, a member of the unusual "Dirk & Steele" detective agency carries two secrets; his ability to manipulate electricity to such a degree he can stop a heart beat with a thought, & his relationship with his estranged father, the wealthy & powerful philanthropist Felix Perrineau, a man he grew up to despise. Flying back to the States after sustaining an injury whilst investigating organ trafficking, Blue finds himself blackmailed by his father after Felix reveals he holds proof of not only Blue's strange ability, but those of other "Dirk & Steele" employees. Given a tight time frame, Blue finds himself reluctantly agreeing to find his missing younger sibling; a half-brother he has never met. Closely acquainted with other psychics, it doesn't take long for Blue to track his brother Daniel to a circus currently performing in Las Vegas; however he receives no warning of the resident lion tamer, a gold eyed red head whose unusual eyes immediately announce her as a shape shifter to those in the know.

When Iris is nearly shot after another "cat-knapping" attempt by the local wild life brigade, she finds herself saved by Blue; a man she is immediately attracted to despite knowing her ability to shift into a leopard makes any relationship difficult. Hiding in the open, the majority of her audience remain convinced her affinity to her wild cats is just uncanny or down to good training; however someone else knows the truth & feels confident that a bite from Iris would enable him to shape shift himself. This man; Santosa Rahardjo is also deeply involved with the sex slave industry & organ trafficking trade Blue was investigating in Indonesia before a mysterious beautiful blonde tried to kill him.

"Eye of Heaven" is the fifth story in MML's "Dirk & Steele" series & is an absolute cracker. We have mysteries galore; Iris' missing mother, why Felix Perrineau wants Daniel back in his clutches, the mysterious blonde assassin & discovering the ultimate mastermind behind the black market trade of organ donation & drug addicted prostitutes are just a few that are unravelled amid the pages of this book. We also meet some old friends; including previous heroes of this series Dean Campbell & Artur Loginov, & a very brief appearance is made by the enigmatic Rictor. MML has written a flawless action packed romance; a story filled with almost excessive espionage & thrills, yet Blue & Iris' romance still believably blossoms. I now eagerly await Book 6 in this fantastic series; "Soul Song" is scheduled for release in July 07, however at this stage no further details are available.
