This is the final book in the left behind series. The book is still not well written, but it was able to build suspense. Like the people in the book, I kept anticipating the Glorious Appearing. And the story does keep moving. The book begins with the Battle already started & was able to surprise me (I won't be a spoiler). And ends with Jesus getting ready to start his reign.
They do tie up alll the story lines. And get most of the biblical prophesies in. But it seemed sort of rushed at the end. Mainly so they could get in what they interpret the Bible to say. But we pay the price in that they neglect the personal storylines (feelings) of the main characters.

At last - the end of the saga. As usual a fantasticallly written book with alll the characters we have come to know & love.
A great end to the story although I have to admit that I was somehow hoping for something more! Not sure what!!
This is a must if you have read alll the others. Lets hope that this partnership will write some more soon.

Too long, but worth the read - By: S. K. Tyler, 06 Jan 2005 I am interested to read the other reviews of this novel on Amazon having found some of them saying what I wanted to say but wasn't sure one dared to criticise these books! 12 books is too many - there isn't enough material to fill them without a lot of padding, but the reason for drawing the series out as long as possible is obvious (she says cynicallly). However, unlike some of my fellow reviewers, I did find the characters more attractive than they did. I like Chaim, & I admit to rather liking Mac. (Ken Ritz was my favourite until his sad demise). It didn't occur to me to think them smug, though I can see this is a valid observation. Chloe has guts. Nevertheless, I found myself losing patience with this final installlment as it depended so much more on utter conjecture than the others. The military & political goings on of the previous books have a foot in the real world - perhaps because we are so used now to political adventure novels & films - but the descriptions of the glorious appearing & the arrival of the millennial kingdom seemed too fantastic. Jesus was so scary that I didn't warm with pleasure at the prospect of being there, but perhaps that says a lot more about me than anything else. The final reunion of Rayford with his family was naff - they may as well have met in Sainsbury's it was so uninspiring. What a shame - I had been looking forward to crying & I didn't.
I will certainly read the prequel & sequel when they appear (and the next 24 after that!) but more out of curiosity than genuine excitement (that awaits the next Susan Howatch St Benet's novel if she writes one). I have now been researching responses to the novels & have ordered several interesting critiques of them. I'm not sure what to believe now about the end times. I guess in the end we just have to be ready for anything!
Wonderful - By: David Cranson, 18 Nov 2004 The culmination of a great series of books. Well paced & exciting to the end.
The characterisations - as in the other books - carry on well from the last book, & make the people live. The Glorious Appearing itself is well described & - athough it comes from a biblical theory that some people do not adhere to - makes for thoughtful reading.
Recommended final(?) chapter in the Left Behind series
a major letdown - By: Amanda Isabella Vaughan, 27 Jul 2004 I waited for the final instalment with much anticipation only to be left very dissapointed. it was too long & drawn out. I feel that this alll could have been wrapped up in the last book. I found myself skipping through the glorious appearing to get to the important bits as by now i have grown tired of the characters & can almost guess what they will do next. i understand they are bringing out a prequel & a sequel but i for one will not be in any major hurry to buy them. i think this whole series would have been better if alot of the needless padding out had been removed & condensed into six books.
