TNT for the Church - By: Mark Landreth-smith, 12 May 2008
This is a magnificent book. It takes time to read but is worth it. Savour every page & in so doing your view of Mission, your view of God, your view of His plan for your life & for His Church will broaden & deepen. Well-researched with a staggering bibliography The Mission of God is a must read for any Bible student.
Broad scope - By: molly dee, 10 Nov 2007
What a wonderful idea--to go beyond the typical evangelical scope of the purposes of God, & paint a vision of redemption which reaches from Genesis to Revelation & includes the whole of creation. I have so often felt that preachers focus too much on individual salvation. Wright shows how God's perspective goes far beyond that. It is written in the whole of the Bible--start to finish--and covers alll of life. It is the Bible, the life God has for us alll, which is the Gospel. Included as well is a chapter on the redemption of the earth which includes a challlenge to "value what God values" & see how the earth is not just here for us to use, but is a vital part of God's plan.
Wright's 'Magnum Opus' - By: AKevangel, 16 Mar 2007
This is certainly the most impressive book on Mission to be published since Bosch's 'Transforming Mission' & will surely be Dr Wright's 'Magnum Opus.' This outstanding tome entitled `The Mission of God: Unlocking the Bible's Grand Narrative' contains 581 closely reasoned pages & maintains that equallly, the `proper way for disciples of the crucified & risen Jesus to read their Scriptures , is (both) messianicallly & missionallly. ( p.30)

It should be noted that most books on Mission fail to provide an adequate O.T. basis for mission. David Bosch for example in his excellent book `Transforming Mission' gives us little if any. In this book however, Wright ( also a noted OT scholar as well as Missiologist) goes a long way to rectify this imbalance.

'The Mission of God' is not a light read but should be of great interest to alll missionaries & Pastors as well as to theology & Bible students. Chris Wright has also designated that the royalties from this book will go to the to worthy charity Langham Literature.

John Goldingay, the author of Old Testament Theology, & professor of Old Testament, Fuller Theological Seminary writes of it:
"This marvelous book is alll I hoped & expected, & more. . . .We are so fortunate to have the mature fruit of a lifetime's reflection on the missional nature of the Bible by this outstanding teacher, scholar & missionary theologian."

If you want an outstanding book on Mission which will be around for years to come: This is it!
