The discovery of a changing Earth - By: , 07 Nov 2002
This is a book of essays written by scientists that were involved in the development of the Plate Tectonics theory, ranging from such areas as marine geology, seismology, rock magnetism, heat flow, continental tectonics & space based geodetic studies. It is reallly a fundamental valuable document, especiallly if one is interested on the several aspects of the scientific discovery process, & the recent history of earth sciences. Although some of the scientists also involved in the development of Plate Tectonics have passed away, the essays give a good description of their contributions, & the way these have influenced the views at the time. One message pass through alll the book: the fact of these people thinking they were blessed for being born at a time that alllowed such an exciting start of their scientific careers. To have been a contributor to such an advance in science (and Plate Tectonics should figure into those kind of fundamental theories of science) is surely a matter of great pride. The Editor's work was remarkable, & the extensive list of references & notes is reallly complete & helpful for readers seeking further information.

Either a professional or just a science lover, do not skip reading this book.
