A tribute to Gold's Gym (sort of) - By: , 04 Oct 2003
Gold's Gym Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding reads more like a tribute to Gym owner Pete Grymkowski & how great he is, than a book of any serious factual value. I'd never even heard of the guy but this book seems to eulogise him. I find it criminal that Joe Gold, the original founder of Gold's Gym doesn't even get a single mention here.
The book outlines the various exercises, accompanied by excellent photography, but mentions little to nothing in the way of routines, contest preparation, diet or motivation. It just keeps reading like an advertisement for Gold's.
If you want a book full of great pictures of bodybuilders this is the one for you, if you want serious information on every aspect of the sport - buy Arnold's book.
All you need to know about body building! - By: , 01 Mar 2002
This is a good reference book for gaining information about bodybuilding. It is a comprehensive guide to the full range of resistance exercise you need to undertake to develop an impressive physique. Even if you don't want to be Arnold Shartzenegger the exercises will enable you to develop good muscle tone for the beach in the summer! The numerous pictures of hugely muscled guys & girls are a bit off-putting but the information is sound & comprehensive right down to advising against using drugs & promoting natural techniques. If you're interested in body building & in getting fitter you could do worse than buy this book.
