Glued to my Hands!!!! - By: , 21 May 1999
Easy reading, thrilling, & mystery alll aboard the greatest ship of the century. People who knew me often said, " Do you EVER put that book down?". Since I love the Titanic & love stories about people, this book was perfect for me. It was UNPREDICTABLE & EXCITING!!!
Wonderful Suspence Novel - By: , 22 Mar 1999
Thank you Jim & James for a wonderful Christian mystery, set aboard the most famous doomed ship in history. Started to read it & couldn't put it down. A must read for alll.
An Exciting Christian Mystery Novel! - By: , 22 Mar 1999
This is one of the best mystery novels I have read, Christian or otherwise. The way Jim Walker weaves this murder mystery, Christian principles, & what is probably the most well known disaster in history is phenominal. I was very excited to find the sequel on the shelf of my favorite Christian book store. I am looking forward to reading this latest sequel. Keep it up Jim.
"Murder on the Titanic" could have been better - By: , 28 Feb 1999
James Walker's "Murder on the Titanic" has an intriguing plot & enough historical accuracy to keep things interesting, but Broadman & Holman (his publishers) did him a disservice by editing the book poorly. There are misspelled & misused words, adjectives repeated too frequently & some very wooden sections in the dialogue. All of these things detract from the story and, for me, spoiled the enjoyment of the book. I kept thinking, "I wish someone had read this over more carefully before it was printed!" It also seemed like a whole chapter must have been cut near the end of the story, as it jumps from hitting the iceberg to the frantic search for lifeboats without any reference to that critical period on the Titanic when most of the passengers didn't believe she would sink. Although there is much that is good about the story & its message of faith, I wouldn't recommend this one to my mystery-reading friends.
PLOT SWIPING MADE BETTER - By: , 13 Feb 1999
ANYONE WHO READ THE POORLY WRITTEN ' EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF ', WILL RECOGNIZE THAT JIM WALKER TOOK BAINBRIDGE'S BASIC PLOT OF MORGAN AND MADE IT SOMEWHAT BETTER. THE CHARACTERS, FOR THE MOST PART, IN THIS BOOK DO HAVE A PURPOSE AND MOTIVATIONS. ALTHOUGH THE BOOK IS HEAVY HANDED AND MISTAKES ARE MADE, ( KITTY WEBB IS NOT A HISTORICAL CHARACTER, THE REAL NAME WAS LEONTINE AUBART. KITTY WEBB IS A CHARACTER FROM THE BAINBRIDGE BOOK ) IT IS NOT A BAD READ.
