This novel about an epidemic in a smalll town is written in the second person (the main character is referred to as "you"), which gives it a strange sense of immediacy. The details of the spread of the disease are there for those who need a novel to hang together logicallly, yet there is a very real sense of the impact the events have on the characters' lives.

I recommend this book highly, & not just because I'm personallly fascinated by how epidemics work.
