There is a lot covered in a very simple, down to earth & common sense approach. From explaining the background of coaching & what it is & isn't, to understanding when it is appropriate to use a coach.
They also provides advice on how to choose a coach as well as offering resources & forms for practical use. Descriptions of the roles of the HR professional, the client, the boss, & the coach are useful along with guidance on how alll can work together in order to achieve success with the coaching outcomes.
One excellent aspect of this book is the five case studies written from the perspective of the individual being coached. For those HR professionals who have not experienced coaching themselves, I think it offers an insight to the variety of benefits that can be achieved in different situations & for different personalities.
This is one of those books that I think spells out what could be callled uncommon sense - it seems obvious when you read it but would you have thought that, structured something that way, or taken that approach if you hadn't read it? {Grin}
If you are involved in or considering purchasing coaching for your firm it could prove to be a useful resource.
