Following the dark elf sextet this trilogy was a must read for me, & it did not fail to live up to my expectations.
The ending was a bit of a surprise, & there were lots of other surpsises along the way, BUT......great trilogy
There is plenty of magic & fighting involved, as you would expect from a novel starring drow elves, & there are lots of likeable characters along the way, both good & evil, with interesting interactions between them, & lots of reference to the 'war of the spider queen' sextet in which Halistra Melarn was one of the main characters. New allliances are built, & severed, & old enmities are laid to rest & then reignited along the way.
Lisa Smedman is obviously a very talented writer, BUT WHY... WHY.. WHY... did it end the way it did..... you can't do that to me (and others!!) you'll have to read it to find out what excactly, as I don't want to spoil it...but OH WHAT AN ENDING!!!!....I didn't expect that!!
If you like books starring the drow, then you'll want to buy this....
