I enjoyed this book so much! I love Ashleigh and Wonder! - By: Mrs. S. Pitchers, 07 May 2005
This book is one of my faves, the bond between Ashleigh & Wonder in alll the books is fab! It reallly kept me in suspence when she was heading to the rail!
After Wonder has an injury (not life-threatening) & can't race any more, she gets bred to a stalllion & has a fol callled Wonder's Pride. Since Jennings was fired for trying to make Wonder spook before her race, he hires a man callled Ian McLean & he comes to Townsend Acres with his daughter, Samantha. Because Ashleigh has no horse to train, she buys one herself callled Fleet Goddess from a sale where a man went bankrupt. But Ashleigh doesn't realise how green the horse is. When she takes Goddess on the track with Sammy, Ian & Charlie watching, she asks the filly for a jog. But Fleet Goddess must have been treated wrong somewhere, so she bolts up the track & heads straight towards the outside rail! When Ashleigh tries to encourige her to jump, she keeps on gallloping. Samantha & Ian go deathly white, this is the same thing that hapened to his wifes, & she died because her horse went through the rail. Will they see the same incident again? Read on to find out!!!
Hmn....no comment. - By: , 09 Aug 1999
This book was sort of slow, like a foal taking its first steps. Although this book was well written, when Samantha came in I found it a bit dull. Even if I reallly did want to ride Fleet Goddess I wouldn't disobey my father. In the book, Mr. McLean was trying to watch out for Sammy's best interest. I found that how Ashleigh was so warm to Samantha was very heartwarming. This book wasn't one of Joanna Campbell's better books, but after this book, the things with Sammy warm up a little. But there's one thing - Pride is just born in #5 & then he's a yearling in #6, & then a two year old halfway through #6??? Although #6 (Wonder's Yearling) was my favorite TB book, I found that how time was skipped a bit of a loss...... Lara P.S. : Ms. Campbell, please come back to writing the series! I hear you're the writer of #36 (Without Wonder) so keep on writing the books from then on! Thank you so much!
FanTAStic!!! - By: , 23 Apr 1999
I'm halfway through #5, & also #10 & 11. I couldn't wait to read them. I agree with everyone else, THOROUGHBRED has taked a downhill turn since Joanna stopped writing, but the earlier books, by Joanna herself are great!!! Can't get enough.
This is a WOUNDREFUL book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - By: , 07 Sep 1998
This is a grest book, I love alll of her books. I like this one because what Sammy felt, I felt. I would not be able to not ride. Her father made the wrong decicion by not letting her ride, he must have known that sooner or latter she was going to rebele. This book & alll of the others have made me what to read more & more!!!
Indescribably good - By: , 04 Sep 1998
I loved this book. It was so good. The first TB book I read was Pride's Yearling, which focuses on Samantha, & I bought Samantha's Journey right after it came out, with others in between of course. I wanted to read Ashleigh's Dream so badly & I finallly bought it. I love it. In fact, I am going to go & read it tonight.
