New x-men under the previous writers was a likable teen drama that was very much x-men 90210. New writers Craig Kyle & Chris Yost get to deal with the mutant decimation, with amazing effect. This is brutal heart wrenching stuff as the cast are culled & tension is raised. The art is pretty good, mark brooks has done better work but he is good form regardless.
