Very disappointing - By: , 30 Dec 2001
The CCNA study guide was absolutely brilliant, whereas I feel this book was a total let down. I bought it to supplement the book I had from Cisco press, which I found to be much more useful. There were a few topics that were covered in great depth in the Cisco Press book that was barely covered at alll in this one.
Pretty good, but some mistakes, and some areas lacking - By: , 06 Jun 2001
Well, it's not alll bad - I passed the exam first time this morning with 901 score. I chose this book after Lammle's excellent CCNA 1.0 book, which I thought was pretty much alll you needed to pass the exam. The CCNP exam was different - the book has a few mistakes (not a big problem), but I did have at least 10 question in the exam that this book did not prepare me for, in particular more in-depth trunking/VLANs/STP. They could be answered with some common sense/real-world knowledge, but after such a great CCNA book, this could have been better.
Complete written prep for the 640-504 exam - By: Paul Whitby, 13 Mar 2001
As with his other Sybex Cisco publications, Todd Lammle et al, have produced a book that is clear & easy to follow. It clearly details the various aspects of Switching, including VLANs, STP, MLSP & HSRP to name a few. It alllowed me to fully prepare for my exam & I would like to pass on my thanks to the writers. Take the time to read & digest this book and, along with practise, the exam should be of no bother to anyone.
